The Hawaii Okikamuro Kai is a group in Hawaii who had been trying to find out things about Suo Oshima as well as the surrounding prefectures of Hiroshima (Chugoku), Ehime (Shikoku), Yamaguchi (Chugoku). The search for interesting things is to discover the charms of Suo Oshima and Yamaguchi, which takes us to the web-search, streamers, and videos that were available online.
What popped up would be the (1) English Yamaguchi Wiki that explained basic area profile, historic sites, and a listing of schools, but it wasn't really all that helpful. The next link would be (2) Yamaguchi Travel Guide a resource that would explain many travel attractions that were like little snippets of things that a person may find interesting without a deep dive of any sorts. (3) Was Gaijin Pot Travel that focused more on the area destinations of areas rather than what might get someone interested, but again noting to make me feel like I needed to go to Yamaguchi other than mark it off my visited prefecture bucket list. At that point there were Restaurants named Yamaguchi, characters with the surname Yamaguchi, famous Hawaii chef Roy Yamaguchi of Yamaguchi Restaurants, and Japanese-American Kristi Yamaguchi who was a olympic gold medal figure skater. When searching for videos there really wasn't too much covered with Leap Across the world and their quick Uncover Yamaguchi video that was more like a trailer of sorts. Many videos that covered the famous Shimonoseki for its competitive fish market with Fugu and Sushi as well as its regional styles of sushi with Cathy Cat going all in with her channel Ask Japanese. There were university videos for advertisements and what seemed to be a less refined area of traditional tourism and buildings which did not dive deep into information or design to show the charms of Yamaguchi. There is much to be desired for influencers to visit Yamaguchi to have a chance to share the things that are good about Yamaguchi. NHK did have a few videos that allowed people to get some of the more interesting parts of Yamaguchi with the series Train Cruise "The Energy of Yamaguchi's Harsh Coastlines", Journeys in Japan "Yanai: Old Town of Goldfish Lanterns", and a Special on Fugu that shows the varieties of Panther Pufferfish, Purple Pufferfish, and Tiger Puffer Fish that is most famous in Yamaguchi.
