Fukushima Prefecture
Fukushima [福島県] rmj. Fukushima-ken
Fukushima Prefecture (kansai region), the name Fukushima comes from Fuku (福) Good Luck, Shima (島) Island.
Design
The first flag had a silhouette of Mt. Bandai in white and it had a green background (1951). However, in 1991 it would embody the ideal of "Beautiful Fukushima". In the language of flowers a beautiful heart can be seen as blooming of a flower, and when its in a circle it represents many people in communication like a school club or in Japan school circle. It represents "The Future".
Welcome to Fukushima! The Prefecture of Fukushima is the third largest prefecture in Japan. Fukushima offers spectacular volcanic landscapes, hot springs, historic sites, and is a great spot to enjoy both the changing leaves in autumn and the cherry blossoms in spring.
