Ibaraki [茨城県] rmj. Ibaraki-ken
Ibaraki Prefecture (Kanto region), the name Ibaraki comes from Ibara (茨) Thorn, Ki (城) Castle. Is located in the Northeastern Honshu of the Kanto Region. Ibaraki's capitol is Mito City and is apart of the Metropolitan Capitol Region called Shuto-ken (首都圏. capitol region) and is apart of the Greater Tokyo Area.
Design
The old flag did not have a stylized rose with a spiral, but was based on "Iharaki" written in Katakana which would mean "Place for sound" (1911). The iris purple from the previous flag carries on its lineage through being the same color hue found in the current flag.
Welcome to Ibaraki! The Prefecture of Yamagata is located on the coast of the Sea of Japan and is known for its agricultural products such as cherries, and for its hot springs and beautiful nature.
